We can help you classify and obtain Export Licenses for your goods.

Navigating the laws of Export Compliance are what we do best.

Schedule B Determination

Correctly determining the Schedule B number of an export is extremely important and vital to the transaction. With over 6 Licensed Customs Brokers on staff and over 90 years of experience, we are experts in understanding and classifying your product.

Export Documentation

Carriers use your import and export documents to properly declare your shipment to customs authorities in both the country of export and the country of import. Understanding the requirements and correctly producing accurate documents is of up-most importance in the world of International Trade.

EAR Licenses

Under the EAR dual use regulations, license requirements are on an item-by-item, country-by-country basis. As such, your particular item may or may not require a license. Our team can help you determine if a license is necessary and help you obtain the license for export.

Export Control Classification Number

Determining whether an item is subject to ITAR or EAR is critical. In addition, determining the correct ECCN for EAR items is very important. Mistakes here can have serious consequences to shippers so please contact us for help in understanding the requirements and applying the correct determinations.

Denied/Restricted Party Screening

We have a solution that provides a secure, comprehensive method for the screening process. SGT enables exporters to quickly screen customers, suppliers, and other trading partners against over 150 restricted parties and sanctions lists from around the world. Learn more here.

EEI Filing

The U.S. Census Bureau requires an Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing for all International Export shipments including those destined to Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands, having a declared value exceeding $2,500.00, unless the shipment or country are exempt by Federal Regulations.

Export Compliance Manual and Procedures

Every exporter must have a complete Policy and Procedure manual. This should include work instructions and specific contact information regarding the policy. Our team can understand your business and help implement new policies or review your existing policies for compliance.

The ITAR is an important set of export control laws that affect the manufacturing, sales and distribution of U.S. technologies. The ITAR contains a United States Munitions List (USML) of restricted articles and services. Generally speaking, anything manufactured to a Military specification may be subject to the ITAR.

We provide regular training on important topics related to export compliance such as general export compliance awareness, international shipping, international travel, international collaborations and more. Department or project specific training is also available.

Export License Determination

Determining whether your item falls under the ITAR or EAR is a crucial first step in license determination. Understanding the commodity, destination and end use are also factors that the SGT team will help you understand when making the important decisions.

Correctly understanding valuation and using it in practice is vital to protecting our economy, your products and international tariffs. As one of our core competencies, we will work with you to understand your product and ensure that your company is making all the right valuation decisions.

Country of Origin

Correct Country of Origin information must be included on all documentation. To satisfy recordkeeping requirements, the company is also required to be able to prove the Country of Origin. Our team has a vast knowledge of the specific guidelines that are established to aid in the determination.

EMCP Audits

U.S. export controls should never be taken lightly. To assist with management decisions and ensure compliance, all exporters must have an EMCP (Export Management Compliance Program) that includes regular audits. Our team has extensive experience in creating and maintaining a highly functional EMCP.

INCOTERMS 2010 is a vital tool when dealing with International buying and selling. Mistakes in purchase contracts can shift responsibility to the Exporter that cause unnecessary costs and delays. Use our tools and knowledge to understand the impact on your business and educate your sales and purchasing staff.
